Messier 42 – Starless – from my tiny Vespera

Exposure: 57’
Processing: StarXTerminator, Topaz, 3DLut

I do not fully understand what I’ve captured here. The dimensions of the image seem to reflect the screen size of the android tablet that I used to control the Vespera and to view its image progress. In any case, it is from an 8-bit grab, a jpeg, of the processed image as shown on the screen. Somewhere in the menu and buttons on the tablet, one is supposed to be able to get an unprocessed tif (and eventually all the fits subs; the supporting software is only partially complete).

So, I took this quick-grab processed image and further processed  it. "Image B” is the image as it came off the screen.

I find it remarkable that this little 2” refractor (see here) could do such a thing while I sat in the warm house watching a Frasier from decades past.
